Andy Martin
Team Manager, 2022-2024
Andy joined Wicks Enterprise as a team leader in late 2022, during a time when I was in desperate need of support to manage this loosely structured Wicks Enterprise. I was seeking substantial help to elevate my team, and Andy coincidently was the perfect person for the role. I believe that some people are sent to me by God, and Andy, at 56 years old, with a wealth of life and managerial experience, was definitely one of them. He had managed various roles, including at major brands like Blockbuster Video and Scope (the charity), and he was drawn to this job solely because of me which I found to be quite a tell he was going to be good.

Although the pay was a step down for him, for some, the journey and the experiences matter more than the money. Andy proved this by delivering far beyond what I had anticipated during the interview. He brought his own methods, tips, and tricks to Wicks Enterprise, teaching me invaluable lessons about being an employer. It felt as though he instinctively understood my long-term vision for the company, and he quickly became a mentor to me. Even his use of language was so captivating, I often found myself asking him what certain words meant.
With Andy’s help, we assembled a stable team, which gave me the freedom to focus on other priorities, such as undergoing hydrotherapy, going on a cruise, writing my book, and even organising everything for my house move. He also chauffeured me to all these locations and various other trips in between, whether it was to the beach, the cinema, or anywhere else I desired. The day I finished my book coincidentally fell on the day of Andy’s untenable departure from Wicks Enterprise.
Andy will always be remembered for shaping and holding together a cohesive team with minimal intervention from me. He became a father figure to the team—responsible, polite, always showing great etiquette and chivalry on my behalf. He was a true gentleman, and it was an honour to work with him. It’s a shame it had to end, but I’ll always be grateful for the memories and the impact he had on Wicks Enterprise.
Thank you, Andy!
Liam Gist
Life Auxiliary, 2022-2024
Liam joined Wicks Enterprise as a Personal Assistant, and from the start, he stood out as a bright and enthusiastic addition to the team. He was new to the world of care, and like many, found the initial transition into the role of Personal Assistant challenging. However, rather than letting those early struggles define our working relationship, we had an open and honest conversation. I recognised that while the title of Personal Assistant didn’t quite fit his skills, there was still potential in what Liam could offer. After some reflection and a honest discussion with each other, we mutually agreed to redefine his role from Personal Assistant to Life Auxiliary.

Sadly, life sometimes brings change, and with my move to Dartmouth in early 2024, the practicalities of Liam commuting became too challenging. After his tenure at Wicks Enterprise, he found his future in the care sector elsewhere. Liam, thank you for all the wonderful memories we shared; you will always be remembered.
Amelie Carter
Life Auxiliary, 2022-2024
Amelie was a truly sweet and remarkable person who will always be remembered for her unwavering support, her exceptionally attentive and kind care for my cat, Mufasa, and her deep commitment to ensuring I was never left without assistance. It was an absolute pleasure working with Amelie, and I was continually impressed by her loyalty and dedication. After extending her stay with me twice, a testament to her selflessness, she eventually departed to pursue her travels. Her impact remains fondly cherished. Thank you for the memories, Amelie.
